Put yourself in Caputo's shoes: What aspect of his experience would have been the best, most intriguing part of going to Vietnam in 1965? What aspect of his experience so far would have been the most difficult to deal with? Why?
The best part, in my opinion, would have been the brotherhood with the rest of his platoon. The most difficult experience would have been the constant fear and paranoia in the jungle. The men were constantly worried about being killed, and that stress carried over.
The best part, I believe, about Vietnam Caputo has experienced would be being able to see the culture of Vietnam and the nature. Since I have never been outside of the United States, it would be neat to see how other cultures live their life. I also think it would be fun to fight, and kill the enemy. The most difficult to deal with would have been the hot weather. The hot weather would probably drive me insane, and I would be scared about walking over a booby trap. I would also be scared of all of the guerilla fighters, because they know the land a lot better then me.
The most intriguing part of going to Vietnam would probably be when they went into town to give the soldiers a break from the war. Seeing a another countries cities and civilizations would be great way to see their culture. The most difficult would have been the waiting and doing nothing. I would not be able to just sit their and stare off in the same landscape day after day, waiting to be ambushed by possibly hundreds of VC. The idea of it stresses me.
The most intriguing part of going to Vietnam would be fighting for your country and stopping the spread of communism. I would also enjoy being seen as a hero and being admired by little kids. The hardest part would be dealing with the hot weather and all of the bugs. Also having to count and see all of the dead bodies. I would hate having to see my friends and people I have grown close to die.
The most intriguing part of going to Vietnam would probably be getting to meet new people and making new friends. You would get to meet other soldiers, and get to know more about them. I would say the worse experience that would have been the most difficult to deal with would be having to take on the job of counting the bodies and deaths of soldiers. In my opinion that would be awful to have to deal with because your life is now being centered on how many people or friends have died every day.
the most intriguing part of going to Vietnam would be seeing different things, meeting new people. the hardest part would be being away from home, I would miss my family and friends and I think it would be devastating.
The best aspect would be making friendships and getting to know all these different people from so many places. The most intriguing thing would of been going to new countries and seeing how they live and their culture. The most difficult thing would be the climate and bugs but also seeing people dead and knowing they have family and friends that would never see them again.
The most intriguing part of war is going to war and making a name for yourself. Going to war shows people how you develop into an adult. The most difficult thing would be going and surviving the heat and other climate aspects. The weather is always hot and dusty. War can really change a person.
Caputo's best experience in my opinion would be the adrenaline. He grew up in a boring town and had never seen or done anything. I thought It was intriquing that 90% of the time you can't do anything but wait and watch. The most difficult part of his experience would be watching people die and having to make tallys of all the people that were killed.
If I was Caputo during this era of time I would be very fascinated by the war. I think on of the most intriguing thing would be the adventure of going to a whole new country and getting to see what life is like outside of the suburbs and the states. Also seeing the jungles and culture of the country. Some of the things that would be hard would be adjusting to the climate like the heat and dust. Another thing that would be tough is the constant fear death and waiting for fights.
For me the best part would have been the survival aspect of war. I think it would be fun to try and survive and to have to be on my toes at all times to make sure that I don't die. In contrast I think that the most difficult part for me would have been the distance from my friends and family. That would be the hardest part for me because I would be so far away and know that their is a pretty good chance I wouldn't make it back alive.
In my opinion, the best part about Vietnam that Caputo experienced is being able to command my own platoon. When going to Vietnam you will be able to experience the culture and environment of other countries. The worst part about going to Vietnam would be being in constant fear of booby traps and the enemy. Also, being in the constant heat and dust storms would play a mental toll on me. I think the worst part of Vietnam would be the constant sitting and waiting.
The most intriguing part of going to Vietnam would be going to a foreign land. It would be exicting to explore a different country. Also to meet different people from different parts of the U.S. The most difficult experience, would be always the constant fear of getting attacked even when your back at base. Boot camp doesn't prepare you for the worry.
the most intruiging part about going to vietnam would be killing people. That would be the most intriguing part because killing is something you dont usually do. It would be something new. The most difficult aspect would be being away from home for that long because you would miss your family and just relaxing at home.
In my opinion, I think the most intriguing or best part of going to Vietnam would be actually going to Vietnam and seeing what it looks like. Another interesting thing about going to Vietnam is just getting the opportunity to go and experience the war and make new friends. The most difficult part about going to Vietnam is the training like having someone yell at you and tell what to do and the actual fighting part of it and being afraid u might actually die.
I believe having to go over in Vietnam and not being able to see your enemy in front of you like the other wars. Having to deal with people wanting to shoot you and not knowing exactly where they were at would be the most brutal part of the whole war. The most difficult thing would be having to leave home and not being able to see my family every day and not being able to talk to them. I am taught to kill people no matter what. The most intriguing thing would be to lead the first command and having the men look up to me.
I think that the best and most intriguing thing about Vietnam would have been being able to fight alongside your brothers. this is because of the adrenaline rush that you would get from a fire fight. I also personally want experience in combat so I know how to defend myself and loved ones. the most difficult experience would have been losing one of my friends to the enemy. this is because it would take a huge mental toll on you.
The hardest part of going to war in Vietnam was seeing people that I knew from camp being killed. The next part is being away from my family. The dust is a major problem for our guns and is getting in to everything. When I was in Vietnam, I had to watch my back every minute of the day.
I think the best and most intriguing part of going to Vietnam would be to fight the enemy. Fighting the enemy and knowing your part of something big that can mean the safety of your friends and family at home would feel great. On the other hand the most difficult part of going to Vietnam would be losing a soldier/friend. Thinking of making a friendship for a long time and instantly they are gone would be horrifying. Especially if you kept losing more and more each day. That is not a great life to live.
The best part about going to war would probably be the thrill of living and surviving on your own. Everyday you would face the chance of dying. Caputo doesn't know what step could be his last and it would be a crazy feeling. The worst thing would be sitting and waiting for something to happen. You constantly sit there and you never know when your going to get called into battle.
if I had to put my shoe in capuos shoes I would probably be scared because I wouldn't be ready to go to Vietnam and to be away from my family. I would always have the fear of dying and not seeing tomorrow. having the fear of never seeing my family ever. the most difficult thing for him to deal with is being away from home and thinking that every move you make you might die.
If I was in Caputo's shoes, the most intriguing part of Vietnam would be leading the first command. Knowing that all of the men looked up to me for survival and orders. I would be able to see all of the men and how far their courage would lead them. On the other hand, the most difficult thing to deal with would be witnessing the first death of the platoon. Soon death would be like cracks though, filling in with a new man as one is replaced. In my opinion, death would take a long time to understand.
If I was in Caputo's shoes, the most intriguing part of Vietnam would have been the culture and the experiences of visiting Danang. I believe this would be more interesting and a better experience than war itself because visiting Danang on a "bus run" would have been a time to relieve stress and to take in culture. The most difficult part to deal with would have been the loss of his first solider, Sullivan. It would have been even more difficult to deal with because Caputo wasn't even there because he had been let off duty a few days earlier and was sent to the back line. Having to deal with a loss of a solider would be comparable to the loss of a son/friend, something which is almost unbearable to deal with.
In my opinion the best aspect of going to Vietnam would be being able to travel to another country. Being able to see all the land in Vietnam. The most difficult thing to deal with I think would be all of the deaths. It would be very difficult to see so many people dying. Also it would be very difficult to be away from home.
The most intriguing part of going to Vietnam would be going to experience a new culture, climate and land. The worse experience in my opinioned would be the hot weather and I would be scared of all the guerilla fighters.
The most intriguing part of going to Vietnam would be getting to meet new people and learning about there life. The worst experience would be losing you friend that is in your group. It would be hard to go back to war knowing he died from a bullet wound. Hanging out and getting to know someone and then one day them leaving is hard on the soldiers. The weather conditions were also a bad aspect of the war having it be dusty.
the most intriguing part of going to Vietnam would be see a new land and new people. It would be exciting to talk in a foreign land. The difficult experience, would be not know when you will be fighting and waiting all the time and worrying about what will happen next.
I believe the most intriguing part of going to Vietnam would be starting a new life and meeting new people. I would miss my family and friends and I would want to write letters every day to see how everybody is doing, and tell them what I'm doing. The thing I hated most was seeing all the dead bodies laying around. It was also really bad fighting because it was really hot there. The worst part would be having to wait for a long time.
An intriguing part of the war would be to survive in the dense jungle. Another aspect to me is fighting for your country and protecting soldiers. Bad aspects of the war are paranoia of where your enemy is and PTSD will come later in life. Also waiting so long for your enemy to come out and fight. Overall the war would be very hard on the body and difficult living conditions.
The most intriguing would be proving to myself that I can help fight communism. I will also prove to everyone that I am a brave American hero. The most difficult would be "the officer of the dead." Having seen all the dead bodies would have stressed anyone out. Also having to tally up and count the casualties would be a very long and disturbing process.
I think Caputo's best experience would be his learning how to command troops. It takes a lot to flip your mind from being in a perfect town, to going to a brutal war full of death and violent murder. I think his worst experience would have been trying to sleep at night because he couldn't see anything and he probably didn't know if he would wake up in the morning.
The best part in my opinion is making friendship with everyone you are with in Vietnam and fight for your country and see everything there te fear is to see if our friend dies and you have to watch it
The best experiences Caputo had when arriving to Vietnam are the friendships he created with his platoon. The soldiers became his family, his brothers, and they cared for each other.
